Assembly

TYPE-30 assembly diagram
  1. Align the plate on top of the PCB, ensuring the plate notch is aligned with the top edge of the keyboard.
  2. Insert switches into the plate and PCB, starting with the four corner switches for stability.
  3. Place the case foam on the bottom of the case. Set the plate/PCB/switch assembly into the case and secure with the four screws.
  4. Install the two feet under the case, then install the keycaps.
  5. Connect the TYPE-30 to your computer via the USB-C cable — it's ready to use.

Configuration

VIA programming guide

VIA lets you remap every key on the TYPE-30. Because the TYPE-30 requires a custom definition file, follow these steps carefully.

  1. Open usevia.app in Chrome or Edge (required — Firefox is not supported).
  2. Go to the Settings tab and enable Show Design tab.
  3. Go to the Design tab and click Load Draft Definition. Use the file matching your PCB type:
